There’s nothing I love more than capturing the beauty of my surroundings in the Scottish Borders on canvas. With an emphasis on light, colour and glow, I paint with acrylic and add subtle pearlescent colours which make my paintings come to life.
Hello, I’m Gillian. I’ve lived in the Scottish Borders my whole life and currently live in Peebles with my husband and two young boys. I consider it a privilege to live in an area so full of natural beauty and wildlife. You don’t have to go far to spot something worthy of a painting!
As a self-taught artist I love to comb the countryside with my camera on a sunny day and capture what I see. My photos inspire my paintings which include a subtle use of metallic acrylic to capture the glow of the sun on feathers, fur or grass. My pictures adapt as you move round the room and the light changes.
